Is Palessy Fake or Real?
Likely Fake
Why Is Palessy Likely Fake?
Palessy is a website that claims to sell women’s clothing items such as tops, bottoms, jeans, shoes and more.
The products on the website are not original and can be found on numerous other websites, many of which belong to known Chinese scam networks such as ChicV, Econ Technology, ‘Coolest Gadgets’ and more.
The images on the website are not actual photos of the clothing. They are edited images of designs superimposed onto stock models. Therefore, the pictures may not be accurate depictions of the products that customers will receive.
A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 9th March 2021 in Zhejiang, China. The registrant’s other details such as name and contact details have not been provided. Therefore, it is a new website that is being operated anonymously from a high-risk country.
The About Us page of the website contains the following text:
Palessy.com was one of the first online stores and has been helping the fashion-conscious look fabulous since 2012. Palessy offers the latest fashion style tops, dresses ,swimwear and etc.
Firstly, the text states that Palessy has been active since 2012, which is clearly a lie since the domain name was registered only in March 2021.
Also, the text is copied since it can be found on at least 13 other websites, all of which are likely to be scams too. The list is given at the end of the article.
An IP address analysis of these websites shows that 9 out of 13 (69.2%) websites have shared or neighbouring IP addresses. Palessy itself shares an IP address with 7 other websites. This hints that they are all probably operated by the same owners.
There are social media links of a Facebook page and Instagram profile given on the website. However, the Instagram profile no longer exists.
I found that Palessy actually has two separate Facebook pages created on the same day. One of these is being used for advertising on Facebook and Instagram. Genuine brands do not create multiple identical Facebook pages.
The page information of Palessey Boutique shows that it is being operated from USA, Canada and a hidden location. As we already know that Palessey is a Chinese website, it would seem that these are fake locations.
There are absolutely no contact details given on the website. There are no company details provided either and there is not even a return address. The only way to contact Palessy is through a contact form.
No reviews for Palessy could be found, probably because it is a new website
Conclusion
It is extremely likely that Palessy and the 13 related websites may be operated by a Chinese scam network.
It is a new website created in March 2021 and the domain name has been registered in China. The website itself gives no indication of its Chinese origin. In fact, there are no details about the company that is running Palessy.
The clothes being sold are mass-produced Chinese goods that can also be found on countless other shady websites, including many that are associated with known Chinese scam networks. The images are not actual photographs and do not accurately represent the products that customers are likely to receive.
The text content on the website is not original either as the same can be found on at least 13 other websites. Most of these share an IP address with Palessy, hinting that they are all operated by the same company.
Palessy has two separate Facebook pages that have been created on the same day. One of these is being used for advertising on Facebook and Instagram.
The page information shows that one of these pages is being managed from USA, Canada and a hidden location. The hidden location is probably China and there is no close to no possibility that Palessy could be based out of North America.
No reviews for Palessy could be found but my hunch is that customers will be bait-and-switched, as is the modus operandi of Chinese scam networks.
It is advisable to avoid shopping on Palessy and the related 13 websites, as the odds of them being scams are incredibly high.
