Why is Wholeit Fake?
Wholeit is a website that claims to be selling various items such as electronics and video games at low prices. The website is of low quality and the first sign that it is a scam is that the site’s logo says ‘Hotsalewear’ even though the site is called ‘Wholeit’ and does not sell any clothing items.
A domain name lookup of the website shows it was registered on 2nd June 2021. The organization name is given as ‘Min Lin’, which does not seem to be a real company name. The registrant’s location is mentioned as Heibei, China. Therefore, it is a new website being operated anonymously from a high-risk country.
Even though it is clear that Wholeit did not exist before June 2021, the website footer has a false copyright date of 2020. The name ‘Lily Mathew’ is also randomly mentioned even though it doesn’t appear anywhere else on the website.
Wholeit seems to be targeting shoppers in Spain and France, as some of the categories are written in Spanish and French. It is unlikely that Wholeit has a base anywhere except China and the products will probably be shipped from there, if they are shipped at all.
The product listings and prices on Wholeit’s website are quite obviously fake and have been lifted from other websites. This is evident during the checkout process. Look at the screenshots below of my cart containing 956 items costing more than $10,000. The total is automatically reduced to $99 at the final step.
This modus operandi is the same as that of thousands of websites operated by Chinese scam networks. I wrote about it most recently in my article about Pteryious.top.
What’s even shadier is that payments are not processed on Wholeit’s website. Wholeit redirects to a random website called ‘amtddnuk.ml’ for processing payments and the PayPal account has the random name ‘Ciana Philips’.
The About Us page contains the following text:
We pride ourselves on the quality and consistency of our products and services, and we’re here to provide you with a pleasant online shopping experience. On our online store there is a large selection. With many years of experience in the direct relationship with the manufacturer supplier and our customers, we always show our profession so that you can feel better when shopping here.
We will treat all orders with the utmost care to meet requirements. Our customers appreciate the importance of your purchase. That’s why we only sell new, unopened and unused products that we order direct from the manufacturer. Our customers always expect and will receive the high quality product when ordering with us, our goal being to provide our customers with the right products at the right price, delivered on time.
We have a powerful customer service team who keep an eye on the entire sales process. The team is always ready and happy to help you, resolve your returns, replace and listen to your complaints.
I found that there are at least 245 other websites using the same text. Qti.Ai’s Scami revealed that there are at least 210 additional sites using this text too, all of which are likely to be scams. The full list of sites is given at the end of the article.
Wholeit’s website is so obviously fake that it does not even have important documentation such as the Terms & Conditions document. This clearly shows that the site is not run by genuine professionals.
Even though there are social media links given on Wholeit’s website, the links are fake as they lead nowhere. Wholeit does not seem to have a social media presence, but it is likely that the store is being promoted using advertisements from proxy pages on Facebook and Instagram. There is are no company or contact details anywhere on the website. The only way to contact Wholeit is via a contact form on the website that probably doesn’t even work.
I could not find any customer reviews for Wholeit, which is slightly surprising considering that it was created in June 2021. If you want to share your review of this site, you can do so in the comments below or on my social media pages.
Conclusion
It is incredibly likely that Wholeit and the 456 similar sites are all likely to be scams operated from China.
Wholeit is a new site created anonymously from China in June 2021. The website logo uses the wrong name ‘Hotsalewear’ even though clothing is not sold on the website. The product listings appear to have been copied from sites such as eBay, with all the images and descriptions being directly lifted. Wholeit is likely to be operated by a Chinese scam network as the site’s text content can also be found on at least 455 other websites, none of which look trustworthy.
The website’s checkout process is completely fake as the total is always reduced to $99 no matter how many items you add to the cart. PayPal payments are processed by redirecting customers to a different sketchy site called ‘amtddnuk’. The PayPal account being used to collect payments has the random name ‘Ciana Philips’, which means it might be a personal account and not of a business.
The website contains absolutely no company details or contact information. Wholeit it does not have any social media pages and no customer reviews could be found either. It is advisable to avoid ordering from Wholeit or any of the 456 similar sites as it is almost guaranteed that customers will get scammed.
If you think that you have been scammed by any of these sites, you can contact PayPal or your bank for a full refund. Don’t accept a partial refund citing that the product is not what you ordered and refuse to ship the items back, stating that you didn’t know it would be shipped from China.
