Is Pteryious Fake or Real?
Fake
Why is Pteryious Fake?
Pteryious is a website that claims to be selling various electronic parts at low prices. The website is of low quality and the first sign that it is a scam is that the site’s logo says ‘Fenghe Store’ even though the site is called ‘Pteryious’ and shows jewellery even though they are not sold on the site.
A domain name lookup of the website shows it was registered on 9th August 2021. The organization name is given as ‘Min Lin’, which does not seem to be a real company name. The registrant’s location is mentioned as Heibei, China. Therefore, it is a new website being operated anonymously from a high-risk country.
Pteryious seems to be targeting shoppers in Spain, as the main home page banner states in Spanish that items will be shipped from Spain. This is likely to be a lie and the products will probably be shipped from China, if they are shipped at all.
The products being sold on the website appear to be used electronic parts. The product listings have most likely been copied from other sites, as identical listings can be found on sites such as eBay.
The About Us page contains the following text:
We pride ourselves on the quality and consistency of our products and services, and we’re here to provide you with a pleasant online shopping experience. On our online store there is a large selection. With many years of experience in the direct relationship with the manufacturer supplier and our customers, we always show our profession so that you can feel better when shopping here.
We will treat all orders with the utmost care to meet requirements. Our customers appreciate the importance of your purchase. That’s why we only sell new, unopened and unused products that we order direct from the manufacturer. Our customers always expect and will receive the high quality product when ordering with us, our goal being to provide our customers with the right products at the right price, delivered on time.
We have a powerful customer service team who keep an eye on the entire sales process. The team is always ready and happy to help you, resolve your returns, replace and listen to your complaints.
I found that there are at least 117 other websites using the same text, all of which are likely to be scams. The full list of sites is given at the end of the article.
I also found some indications that the product listings are completely fake. Look at the screenshots below which show me adding 1,000 of a $13 product to my cart. The total of $13,000 was automatically reduced to $99 at the end of the checkout process. This is a chacteristic that I have observed in several scam sites which I have written about before.
While testing the checkout process, I also found that the PayPal payments are processed by redirecting to the website ‘lqzfndcf.tk’ which is also likely to be a scam. Further, the PayPal account associated with the website is seems to be a throwaway account named ‘fydvt741febi@sina.com’.
Pteryious’ website is so obviously fake that it does not even have a Terms & Conditions document. The Conditions of Use page on the website contains dummy text. This clearly shows that the site is not run by genuine professionals.
The footer of the page also shows that the site’s creators seem to be unaware about the brand’s name. It mentions ‘Emma Aiden’ instead of ‘Pteryious’ or ‘Fenge Store’.
Even though there are social media links given on Pteryious’ website, the links are fake as they lead nowhere. Pteryious does not seem to have a social media presence, but it is likely that the store is being promoted using advertisements from a proxy page on Facebook. There is are no company or contact details anywhere on the website. The only way to contact Pteryious is via a contact form on the website.
I could not find any customer reviews for Pteryious, which is not surprising considering that it was created in August 2021. If you want to share your review of this site, you can do so in the comments below or on my social media pages.
Conclusion
It is tremendously likely that Pteryious and the 118 similar sites are all likely to be scams operated from China.
Pteryious is a new site created anonymously from China in August 2021. The website logo uses the wrong name ‘Fenghe Store’ and shows jewellery even though the site seems to sell used electronic parts. The product listings appear to have been copied from sites such as eBay, with all the images and descriptions being directly lifted. Pteryious is likely to be operated by a Chinese scam network as the site’s text content can also be found on at least 117 other websites, none of which look trustworthy.
The website’s checkout process is completely fake as the total is always reduced to $99 no matter how many items you add to the cart. PayPal payments are processed by redirecting customers to a different sketchy site called ‘lqzfndcf’. The PayPal account being used to collect payments has a gibberish email ID as the name.
The website contains absolutely no company details or contact information. Pteryious does not have any social media pages and no customer reviews could be found either. It is advisable to avoid ordering from Pteryious or any of the 118 similar sites as there are incredibly high odds of getting scammed.
If you think that you have been scammed by any of these sites, you can contact PayPal or your bank for a full refund. Don’t accept a partial refund citing that the product is not what you ordered and refuse to ship the items back, stating that you didn’t know it would be shipped from China.
