Is Seeroze Fake or Real?
Fake
Why is Seeroze Fake?
Seeroze is a website that claims to be selling Christmas gift boxes at discounts. The website is of poor quality and shows signs of being a Chinese scam right from the start. Seeroze is being heavily promoted on Facebook and the prices seem to be random as the same products are much cheaper on sites like Aliexpress.
A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 16th May 2023. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact details have been hidden using a privacy guard. However, there are multiple indications that the site is operated by the Uniqueness Scam Network from China. Therefore, Seeroze is a new website operated anonymously from a high-risk country.
The About Us page contains the following text:
Welcome to Seeroze ❤
Seeroze is an international B2C online fashion shopping destination. Founded in 2018, seeroze has achieved rapid development on a global scale in the past few years, and we have won the recognition and trust of customers in Ameriaca, Europe, and Australia.
The company focuses primarily on retail products but also offers other fashion items. Our goal has always been to provide our customers with amazing high-quality fashion products at solid prices. queenway offers trendy styles, avant-garde and innovative designs, and provides truly first-class professional services.
Even though it is a small snippet of text, there are multiple things wrong with it:
- The content is copied and the same text has previously been found on websites confirmed to be scams operated by the Uniqueness Scam Network from China.
- It is falsely mentioned that Seeroze was founded in 2018, even though the site clearly did not exist before May 2023.
- The name of a completely different website called ‘Queenway’ is mentioned, indicating that the website owners operate multiple identical websites.
In a fresh analysis, I found that there are at least 89 active websites related to Seeroze, all of which are likely to be scams. The full list of sites is given at the end of the article.
While testing the checkout process, I discovered that a random PayPal account named ‘CM Department Store’ is being used for collecting payments. The account is likely to be used on other websites operated by the same scammers too.
The Terms & Conditions page states that the site operates as per the laws of France and the below company details of Umall Technology S.A.R.L have been provided:
UMALL TECHNOLOGY S.A.R.L
15 RUE DES HALLES, PARIS, FRANCE (THIS IS NOT A RETURNING ADDRESS)
It seems tremendously likely that Umall Technology S.A.R.L may be a Chinese shell company operating hundreds of fake online stores, as when I checked the company registration information, I found that Umall Technology S.A.R.L was registered in May 2022 under the name of a Chinese national named Yu Baoying. Therefore, it is likely that the incorporation is being (mis)used by Chinese organized cybercriminals to launder the proceeds of scams to China.
I also found that Umall Technology S.A.R.L has an active lawsuit filed against it in May 2023 by Whirlpool Corporation for patent infringement.
The same company information is present on at least 49 other active websites, all of which may be scams. The list of sites is given at the end of the article.
There are no social media pages linked on Seeroze’s website, however, I found that five different Facebook pages for it exist, which is extremely suspicious.
Seeroze is being promoted through advertisements on Facebook and Instagram. One of the pages is a hacked page that has been taken over to run ads.
The Contact Us page of the website contains only the the email ID ‘service@seeroze.com‘. No phone number or address is provided and the page does not contain company details.
I found negative customer reviews for Seeroze on Trustpilot and customers have echoed common complaints related to websites in the Uniqueness Scam Network, such as false advertising, products being shipped from China, late or no delivery, poor customer service and refusal to provide refunds.
If you want to share your review of this site, you can do so in the comments below or on my social media pages.
Conclusion
It is extremely likely that Seeroze and the 138 similar sites may all be scams operated by the Uniqueness Scam Network from China, under the guise of shell companies such as Umall Technology S.A.R.L.
Seeroze is a new site created anonymously in May 2023. The website is poorly-made and it uses the same content which is found on hundreds of confirmed scam websites. The website falsely claims that Seeroze was founded in 2018 and the About Us page incorrectly mentions the website name as ‘Queenway’. This suggests that the website owners operate several identical websites.
There are multiple signs suggesting that Seeroze is a Chinese operation but the website states that it is operated by Umall Technology S.A.R.L registered in France. However, it seems to be a Chinese shell company as it is registered under the name of a Chinese national.
Five different Facebook pages have been created for Seeroze which is incredibly strange and one of the pages is a hacked page that is running advertisements on Facebook and Instagram.
It is advisable to avoid shopping on Seeroze and other websites operated by Umall Technology S.A.R.L as there are no reasons to believe that they are genuine businesses.
If you think that you have been scammed by any of these sites, you can contact PayPal or your bank for a full refund. Don’t accept a partial refund citing that the product is not what you ordered and refuse to ship the items back to China as the merchant claims to be located in France.
