Why is Flightsdiscount Fake?
Flightsdiscount is a website that claims to be selling ebooks and collector coins. The website appears dubious from the first glance as the website logo simply says ‘Shopping’ even though the site’s name is Flightsdiscount.
A domain name lookup of the website shows it was registered on 16th October 2021. The location of registration is given as Maryland, US but seems to be a lie due to reasons that are explained later in the article. Therefore, it is a new website being operated by anonymous owners who are deliberately misinforming the public about the website’s ownership.
The website is quite poorly made and does not appear to be run by genuine professionals. The website is missing important pages such as Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
The website contains absolutely no information about the company that runs the business. By analyzing the website content, I found the following text:
Between heaven and earth, you are a miracle.Dedicated to that wonderful time worth cherishing.
My research revealed that the same text was also being used by a website called garme.site which itself looks highly dubious. The domain registration information of this website shows that it was registered in Beijing, China in October 2021. Therefore, Flightsdiscount.xyz and Garme.site are likely to be operated by a Chinese scam network.
The About Us page of Garme.site contains the following text:
We are your number one source for carefully selected designed products that are created especially for you. Dedicated to giving you the very best of designs and quality, with a focus on dependability, customer service and uniqueness.
By analyzing the above content, I found that there are at least 244 other sites that use the same content. Qti.ai‘s Scami discovered an additional 207 sites that are also using the same content as Flightsdiscount. The full list of sites is given at the end of the article.
While testing the checkout process, I found that the PayPal account with the website is named after a Florida-based LLC. This company name is not mentioned anywhere on the website. According to a record on OpenGovUS, the company is a ‘Hardware Manufacturing’ business, but it is unknown whether the company actually has any relation to Flightsdiscount.
Even though there are social media icons given on Flightsdiscount’s website, they are fake as they lead nowhere. I could not find any pages for the website independently either.
The contact details given on Flightsdiscount’s website are a California address and Kentucky phone number. There is no reason to believe that these details are fake as Flightsdiscount has high odds of being operated from China.
I could not find any customer reviews for Flightsdiscount, which is slightly surprising considering that it was created in October 2021. If you want to share your review of this site, you can do so in the comments below or on my social media pages.
Conclusion
It is incredibly likely that Flightsdiscount, Garme and the 451 similar sites are all likely to be scam stores operated from China.
Flightsdiscount is a new site created anonymously in October 2021. Even though there are signs indicating that is a Chinese website, the domain registration information misleadingly states that it was registered in Maryland.
The website is of extremely poor quality and lacks important documentation such as Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. There is no company information given on the website and the PayPal account associated with the website is of a Florida-based hardware manufacturing company.
The entire content on the website has been copied and Flightsdiscount has an apparent relation to more than 450 other sites that use the same text and could all be scams.
The contact details given on the website are a California physical address and Kentucky phone number. Both of these are probably fake as several signs suggest that Flightsdiscount is a Chinese scam store.
It is advisable to avoid ordering from Flightsdiscount or any of the 452 similar sites as there is no guarantee that you will receive what you ordered.
If you feel that you have been scammed by any of these sites, you can contact Paypal or your bank for a full refund. Don’t accept a partial refund citing that the product is not what you ordered and refuse to ship the items back as you didn’t know it would be shipped from China.
