Expertfundsrecovery claims to be a ‘fund recovery’ company be capable of recovering funds sent by victims to scammers, including cryptocurrency assets. As I have written previously, cryptocurrency is nearly impossible to recover, which makes promises by new and unknown companies highly suspect.

A domain name lookup of the website shows that Expertfundsrecovery was registered on 7th August 2021. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact information have been hidden using a paid service. Therefore, it is a new website that is being operated anonymously.

The website is of extremely poor quality. It is badly designed and contains several spelling and grammar errors. Important pages such as About Us and Terms of Service are completely missing.

The section called ‘Useful links’ is utterly useless as the links lead nowhere. The website footer contains the name of a completely different website called Binary Funds Recovery. This suggests that Expertfundsrecovery may be owned by organized criminals who operate several such websites.

The home page of Expertfundsrecovery contains the following text:

We are chargeback experts and funds recovery professionals, and we are here to help people who lost their funds to online trading scams. Build their case, confront the scammers and the financial

By analyzing the above content as well as other text on the website, I found that this same content has been used on at least 16 other websites, all of which may be scams. The full list of sites is given at the end of the article.

The testimonials on the website make it even more obvious that Expertfundsrecovery is a scam as they are quite clearly fake. The same testimonials can be found on other sites and the people mentioned are not real clients.

The website is run completely anonymously as there is not the name of a single team member mentioned anywhere. There is no company information either, probably because no such company actually exists. The home page contains a section called ‘Meet the Team’ but it is empty.

Expertfundsrecovery does not seem to have a social media presence. There are no social media pages mentioned on the website. The home page states that Expertfundsrecovery has 450+ reviews. However, this is a blatant lie as I could only find 9 reviews across multiple websites.

450 reviews false information

These reviews, though positive, appear to be fake and have been flagged as suspicious by both ScamAdviser and Trustpilot. Only one review seems to be genuine and it alleges that Expertfundsrecovery is an Advance Fee Scam.

The contact information given on the website includes an address, phone number and email ID. I found that the address provided is completely fake as it is the location of an unrelated business. Even though the address is Canadian, the phone number provided carries a California area code. It is a VoIP number that can be operated from anywhere, therefore, it is unlikely that the scammers are based in either Canada or USA. The purpose of the number seems to be to chat anonymously on WhatsApp.

Conclusion

It seems glaringly obvious that Expertfundsrecovery is a fake fund recovery agency. The site is being operated anonymously since August 2021. Expertfundsrecovery has apparent relations to 16 other fund recovery websites, all of which are likely to be scams.

Expertfundsrecovery’s website is of poor quality and contains plagiarized content. Important documentation such as ToS and Privacy Policy are missing. Even the client testimonials are fake. Expertfundsrecovery does not have a social media presence and the contact details provided are all fake too. Reviews state that Fundrecoverydesk is an Advance Fee Scam as they demand fees upfront but never recover the lost funds.

It is advisable to avoid hiring the services of Expertfundsrecovery or the 16 similar websites, as there are tremendously high odds that they may be run by scamsters.

How to Get Your Money Back from a Scam

Remember: If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

If you have been a victim of an investment scam, you can take the following steps:

  1. File a complaint with the payment portal. However, investment scammers mostly use methods such as Bitcoin, Western Union, MoneyGram and other untraceable methods which make refunds impossible.
  2. File a formal police complaint with the Cybercrime department.
  3. Leave a negative review on review portals such as Scamadviser and TrustPilot
  4. Report the website to Google using the Suspicious Site Reporter extension for Chrome
  5. Give a low rating to the website on Web of Trust. You can also install their extension for the same.
  6. If the company has a listing on Google My Business or Google Maps, file a complaint using the Business Redressal Complaint Form. Also, leave a negative review explaining what kind of experience you had.
