Is Cowboyex Fake or Real?
Why Is Cowboyex Fake?
Cowboyex is a website that claims to be selling an assortment of items such as furniture and electronics. The website appears to be poorly made and not professional. For example, the ‘Children’ category page of the website does not contain any children’s items.
There are also several spelling and grammar errors that demonstrate that the site has not been created by native English speakers.
The domain name information of Cowboyex shows that it was registered on 2nd August 2021. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact information have been hidden using a paid service. However, there are reasons to believe that Cowboyex is operated from China which I will explain further on in the article. Therefore, it is a new website that is being operated anonymously from a high-risk country.

Firstly, it is plainly false that Cowboyex is operating since 2016, as the domain name was registered only in August 2021. Additionally, I found that the same text can also be found on used on at least 266 websites.
Thanks to Qti.Ai’s Scami, it was revealed that there are at least 216 additional sites using this text too, all of which are likely to be scams. The full list of sites is given at the end of the article.
The product listing pages on Cowboyex’s website mention that ‘All products are shipped from the USA’. This is likely to be an intentionally misleading statement and the products are likely to be shipped from China.

While testing the checkout process, I found that the PayPal account associated with Cowboyex’s website is named ‘RUISENGRACE’. This name does not appear anywhere on the website.
The Terms of Service page provides strong evidence that Cowboyex is likely to be a scam Chinese operation run by a shell company registered in the UK. The following details of a company named ‘Meledo Company Limited’ have been provided:
Meledo Company Limited
330 High Holborn, Holbren,WC1V 7117, London, United Kingdom (This is not a returning address)
Company Number: 11736866
Firstly, it is strange that the company information has been formatted as an image, likely to hide it from search engines.
Looking up the details of Meledo Company Limited, I can see that the company was registered in December 2018, while Cowboyex has only been operational since August 2021. Also, the ‘Nature of business’ is listed as ‘Wholesale of clothing and footwear’ even though Cowboyex does not sell such items.
This suggests that Meledo Company may be a shell incorporation used for running numerous scam online stores. This belief is backed up by the fact that the Director of the company is a Chinese national residing in China.
The Terms of Service page also mentions the email ID ‘email@example.com‘. Not only is it strange that the email address of a different website has been provided but I also found that this email ID is mentioned on other websites too.
The page also misleadingly mentions that Cowboyex’s ‘Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of UK’, even though there are ample reasons to believe that the company actually operates from China.
When I searched for reviews and complaints about Meledo Company Limited, I found that the company has been associated with several websites that have been stated to be Chinese scams by customers who got duped.
Even though there are no social media pages listed on the website, I found that Cowboyex has a Facebook page created in September 2021. The page has just 11 likes but is being used for advertising on Facebook and Instagram. The Facebook page information carries a Chinese address, clearly showing that Cowboyex is a Chinese operation.
The Contact Us page contains the same dubious company information and email ID that are mentioned on the About Us page.
I could not find any customer reviews for Cowboyex, which is not surprising considering that it is a new website. If you want to share your review of this site, you can do so in the comments below or on my social media pages.
Going by past reviews of Meledo Company Limited, it is likely that customers will be bait-and-switched with items inferior to what they ordered. Common complaints with these sites include false advertising, late or no delivery, poor customer service and refusal to provide refunds.
It is extremely likely that Cowboyex and the 502 similar sites are all likely to be scams run by criminal organizations from China using Meledo Company Limited registered in the UK as a facade.
Cowboyex is a new site created in August 2021 from China that is being operated anonymously. The website does not give the impression that it was created by professionals.
All the content on the website is copied as the text and other details such as email IDs can also be found on more than 500 other sites. With help from Qti.ai’s Scami, I found that there are at least 502 websites that have the same content as Cowboyex.
Even though the website does not link to any social media pages, Cowboyex has a Facebook with just 11 followers that is being used for advertising on Facebook and Instagram. The page information carries the name and address of a Chinese company.
No reviews for Cowboyex could be found online. However, websites by Meledo Company Limited are notorious for pulling bait-and-switch scams and then refusing refunds.
It is advisable to avoid shopping on Cowboyex or any of the 502 similar websites as the possibility of them being scams is incredibly high.
If you feel that you have been scammed by any of these sites, you can contact Paypal or your bank for a full refund. Don’t accept a partial refund citing that the product is not what you ordered and refuse to ship the items back as you didn’t know it would be shipped from China.
Remember, if it’s too good to be true, it probably is.
