Why Is Brittany Pants Fake?

YouTube video

Brittany Pants is a website that claims to sell women’s clothing items such as jeans, pants, leggings, dresses and more. The website is of low-quality as it is badly-optimized for larger screens and contains hard-to-read text. The website content is also not original, as it seems to have been copied from Pinterest.

A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 1st October 2020. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact details have been hidden for privacy.

whois

Even though the website is barely 20 days old, it displays a ‘Star of the Month’ product with 400,000 units apparently sold already. This is hard to believe and is most likely a lie.

The product images used on the website seem to be copied from a website called Boohoo. The prices on Brittany Pants are up to 75% lower and such ‘too-good-to-be-true’ prices are often the most obvious sign of a scam.

In the image above, you can see that the sizes are displayed as per Indian standards. All the prices on the website are also mentioned in Indian Rupees and the banner at the top of the page mentions Indian Rupees too. Additionally, the website is using the Razorpay payment gateway and accepts RuPay cards, both of which are Indian companies. Therefore, there is reason to believe that Brittany Pants is actually operated from India.

The contact details provided on the website are an email ID and an address. The email ID was found to be working. However, the address provided seems to be fake as there is no such street in the zip code area 28803. The image of the store displayed on the site is also fake as it has clearly been photoshopped. This means that the only way to contact Brittany Pants is via email.

On the payment screen, the website tries to get users to pay a little extra as a tip. I found it really odd that an online clothing store is asking customers to pay tips.

There are no customer reviews available for Brittany Pants, but this is not surprising considering it is a new website.

*Update*

It seems that Brittany Pants’ customers have now started receiving their packages. However, the boxes are either empty or contain items such as used boxers. This shows that Brittany Pants is clearly a scam. If you have shopped on this website, contact your bank to cancel the payment immediately. If you have opted for Cash on Delivery, check the parcel before paying.

It seems quite obvious that Brittany Pants might be a scam. The website is of low quality and contains text copied from Pinterest. The images have been taken from a website called Boohoo and the prices on Brittany Pants are up to 75% lower.

Even though it claims to be an American company, the website mentions prices in Indian Rupees, the clothing sizes are as per Indian standards and the payment gateway used is of an Indian company. Therefore, it seems Brittany Pants is an Indian website trying to pass itself off as American.

Brittany Pants claims to have a physical store in North Carolina, but a fake image has been used to show the store and the address provided is not real either. The website asks users for tips during the checkout, which is quite strange for a clothing store. It is advisable to avoid shopping on Brittany Pants, as it does not seem to be a genuine store. They are most likely selling counterfeits or nothing at all.
