Why Is Alphawide Tech Fake?

Alphawide Tech claims to be an ‘asset recovery company’ that helps victims of scams recover their lost funds. The website states that they have expertise in recovering cryptocurrency, which is surprising because blockchain transactions cannot be reversed

The website is basic and gives little to no information about important things such as the company’s history or team members.

A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 3rd November 2020. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact information have been hidden for privacy. Therefore, it is a new website that is being operated anonymously.

whois

Even though the website is less than 3 months old, it is mentioned that Alphawide Tech has been in service for ‘many years’. This is clearly a lie.

There is an obvious slip-up on the Client Reviews page which shows that the testimonials are fake. They are dated November 2018, which is impossible because the website was created only in November 2020.

The contact information provided on the website includes an email ID, phone number and address. The address given seems to be fake as it is incomplete and there is nothing on Google Maps to suggest that they have an office at the specified location. The phone number is a virtual number that can be operated from anywhere in the world. Therefore, this appears to be another case of offshore scammers pretending to be an American business.

I could not find any genuine client reviews for Alphawide Tech. The only mention of the company outside their own website is on Quora. There are 2 answers promoting the company written by the same profile.

This account is clearly fake, as 2 out of 3 answers written by it are about Alphawide Tech. The account is supposed to be of a person named Elisa Rossi from Chicago, but the profile picture is of a Swedish model named Pia O. The comments on the answers are disabled, probably to avoid their victims from leaving negative comments.

The earliest answer by this account is from December 2020, which ties in with the fact that the website was created in November 2020. This once again shows that Alphawide Tech is lying about being active since ‘many years’.

The account has 2,600 followers, all of which are fake accounts with no profile pictures or content. Therefore, it seems pretty obvious that the followers and upvotes have been purchased.

alphawide tech scam fake quora followers

There is a very high likelihood that Alphawide Tech is a scam. The company claims to be active since ‘many years’, but the website was created only in November 2020. The testimonials on the website are evidently fake as the dates on them show that they were written in November 2018, which would be 2 years before the website was created.

The address given is incomplete as it does not mention any office number. The phone number is a virtual VoIP number that can be operated from anywhere in the world. Therefore, there is little reason to believe that Alphawide Tech is actually an American company.

The only mentions of Alphawide Tech outside their own site are by a fake Quora profile. 2 out 3 answers on this profile talk about Alphawide Tech and the profile picture is of a random Swedish model. The upvotes and follows for this account are also fake, as they are by dummy accounts.

It is advisable to avoid hiring the services of Alphawide Tech, as it does not seem to be a genuine business.

If you have been a victim of an investment scam, you can take the following steps:

  1. File a complaint with the payment portal. However, investment scammers mostly use methods such as Bitcoin, Western Union, MoneyGram and other untraceable methods which make refunds impossible.
  2. File a formal police complaint with the Cybercrime department.
  3. Leave a negative review on review portals such as Scamadviser and TrustPilot
  4. Report the website to Google using the Suspicious Site Reporter extension for Chrome
  5. Give a low rating to the website on Web of Trust. You can also install their extension for the same.
  6. If the company has a listing on Google My Business or Google Maps, file a complaint using the Business Redressal Complaint Form. Also, leave a negative review explaining what kind of experience you had.
