Why Is TheMazShop Fake?
TheMazShop is an online store that claims to be selling electronics and home appliances. The website looks like it is of poor quality as the images on the website are low-resolution. This suggests that the product images have been lifted from other websites.
Curiously, theMazShop even claims to be selling the Sony PlayStation 5. The gaming console has been sold out all over the world and not even big chains have it in stock. Therefore, it is highly suspicious that this low-budget no-name website has the product available at no markup.
A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 16th December 2020. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact details have been hidden for privacy. Therefore, TheMazShop is a new website that is being operated anonymously.
The home page displays a ‘Black Friday 2020’ banner, even though the website was created almost three weeks after Black Friday, which was on 27th November 2020. This indicates that TheMazShop is a clone of another website.
The Privacy Policy page contains the name of a completely different website called maritahome.com.
While MaritaHome is no longer active, I found a review on Mecedorama containing a screenshot of the website. This website clearly shows that MaritaHome and TheMazShop are identical. Therefore, it seems that TheMazShop is a clone website created by the same scammers who operated MaritaHome.
The user reviews on the page also allege that MaritaHome provided fake contact details that actually belonged to a Home Depot store. This is also the case with TheMazShop, as we will see.
TheMazShop does not seem to have a social media presence, as the icons provided on the website lead nowhere. The contact details provided on the website are an email ID, address and phone number. All these details are fake because the email ID does not work and the other details are of a business called Mobis Parts America.
The checkout process on the website is fake too. I tried to complete a purchase using fake card details. Surprisingly, the details were accepted and I received a message saying that my order was received. This clearly shows that TheMazShop is a fake online store that has been set up to steal credit card details.
There are no user reviews available for TheMazShop, which is not surprising considering that it is a brand-new website.
It is quite obvious that TheMazShop is a scam. The website is an obvious trap for stealing the credit card details of customers. The checkout process on the website is completely fake as there is no authentication. The website even accepts fake credit card details.
The website itself is a clone of a now-inactive scam website called MaritaHome. TheMazShop has a Black Friday 2020 banner even though the domain registration details show that it was created almost three weeks after Black Friday.
The contact details are all fake as the email ID does not exist. The phone number and address provided are of a completely different business called Mobis Parts America. It is advisable to avoid shopping on TheMazShop, as it is a fake website intended to phish customers’ credit card details.

How to Get Your Money Back from a Scam

- Lodge a complaint at the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal
- File a complaint with the payment portal and ask whether the payment can be reversed.
- File a complaint with the Consumer Complaints Forum
- Leave a negative review on review portals such as Scamadviser, TrustPilot, OnlineThreatAlerts and SiteJabber
- Report the website to Google using the Suspicious Site Reporter extension for Chrome
- Give a low rating to the website on Web of Trust. You can also install their extension for the same.
