Likely Fake

Why Is Salemox Likely Fake?

Salemox is a website that claims to be selling various kitchen and home gadgets at low prices. The website has been created using Shopify.

The products being sold on the site are not exclusive as they can be found on many other sites. The prices and discount seem to be a bit random and they are all slightly lower than the prices on Amazon.

The images are low-resolution, suggesting that they might have been lifted from other sites.

A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 6th May 2021. The registrant’s name, location and contact details have been hidden using a paid service. Therefore, it is a new website being operated anonymously.

There is also reason to believe that the site is run from China which is explained in the following section.

The website has very little content except for the product listings and generic policy pages. Not just the images but the entire text on the website looks copied too. The About Us page contains the following text:

Company Number : 12186267

The first thing to note on the page is the company name Beimac Company Limited. This is a known shell company of a Chinese scam network operating thousands of websites, all of which have numerous complaints against them.

This in an enormous red flag that Salemox is likely to be a fake website created with the sole intention of stealing customers’ money.

Secondly, the text used on the page can also be found on at least 120 websites, all of which may be scams. A special mention goes to Qti.Ai’s Scami algorithm for helping me find some of these sites. The full list is given at the end of the article.

An IP address analysis reveals that 102 out of 109 (93.6%) websites analyzed have shared or neighbouring IP addresses. This is a strong indication that they may all be operated by the same owners.

Even though no social media profiles are mentioned on the website itself, I found that Salemox has at least 3 different Facebook pages that have been used for advertising.

Not only it is abnormal for the same website to have multiple pages on the same platform, but it is also doubly suspicious that all of them are being used to run ads.

The contact details given on the website include an email ID and the fake information of Beimac Company Limited. Therefore, the only way to get in touch with Salemox is by email.

Even though the email ID was found to be working, it is pretty much meaningless as Beimac Company is known for terrible customer service.

No reviews for Salemox could be found, probably because it is a new website and products can take months to arrive from China. To share your review of Salemox, please leave a comment below or on my social media pages.

Conclusion

It seems quite obvious that Salemox and the 109 related websites may all be scams. They are operated by Beimac Company Limited, which is suspected to be a shell company incorporated in the UK by Chinese bait-and-switch scammers.

The images on Salemox’s website look like they have been lifted from other sites. The prices also seem random and are all lower than competitors like Amazon. ‘Too good to be true’ deals are almost never true.

The website is less than a month old, created in May 2021. It is also being run anonymously. No company information is given except the suspicious details of Beimac Company Limited. There is absolutely no mention of China anywhere on the website.

There are 110 websites using the same content, including Salemox. 102 of these sites have shared or neighbouring IP addresses, indicating that they may all indeed be related.

It is extremely strange that Salemox is operating 3 different Facebook pages and all of these are being used for advertising on Facebook and Instagram. No legitimate brand operates in such a manner.

It is advisable to avoid shopping on Salemox or any of the 109 related websites, as Beimac Company Limited’s websites have a track record of giving customers a dreadful experience.

If you feel that you have been scammed by any of these websites, you can raise a dispute with PayPal for a full refund. Do not accept partial refunds or full refunds with conditions, such as shipping the item back to China at your own expense.
