Why Is ProbRW Fake?

ProbRW is a website which claims to sell jewellery components. It only sells earring clasps in different colours. The products look like they have been lifted from AliExpress as the images are of low-quality. The website is poorly-made and contains several spelling and grammatical errors.

A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 22nd June 2020 in Shangdong, China. The name of the registrant has not been provided.

The About Us page of ProbRW contains the text ‘We are a professional and reliable online shopping center providing a variety of hot selling products at reasonable prices and shipping them globally’. This same snippet of text is used by at least 48 other online stores including websites and Facebook pages. The full list is given at the end of the article.

I tried ordering items worth $230 from the website, but I got a message saying that the maximum limit per user is $105. The cart could not be easily edited and I had to start the process off adding items in my cart again. When I clicked ‘Place Order’, it took me to PayPal and the account name was Behero Technology Limited.

ProbRW has no social media presence. There are social media logos given on the home page but they don’t lead to any profiles. I could not find any user reviews for ProbRW either.

There is some contact information given on the Contact Us page such as an email ID, phone number, address and the name Gerardo Sauceda. The email ID was found to be non-existent when checked using MailTester. The address given is of a location in Spencer, Indiana. It is a real location but there is no evidence that it is the address of ProbRW. The phone number was shown to carry the area code of Battle Axe, Michigan and not Spencer, Indiana when checked on TrueCaller. There was no name associated with it.

It seems quite clear that ProbRW might be a scam. It looks like it is part of a network with at least 48 other online stores. It contains no original content including text and images. The website has been registered in China but tries to pass itself off as being located in the USA. The contact details and PayPal account seem to be fake. There are no users reviews to vouch for its authenticity. It seems extremely likely that users would have a bad shopping experience with ProbRW.
