Is Plastictoyr Fake or Real?
Why Is Plastictoyr Likely Fake?
Plastictoyr is a website that claims to be selling various indoor and outdoor decorations. The website also has some hidden pages containing listings for things such as waste bins and knife sharpeners.
The site has been created using Shoplazza which is the Chinese counterpart of Shopify. Therefore, it seems that Plastictoyr is a Chinese website. The website design is reminiscent of the Uniqueness Scam Network.
The prices on the website are quite suspicious. It appears that they are either much lower than competitors or have fake discounts on falsely inflated prices.
A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 25th March 2021. The registrant’s details such as name and contact details have not been provided. The location is given as ‘Montana’ but this is very likely to be fake.
Therefore, it is a new website that is being operated anonymously from a high-risk country.
The website quality is extremely poor as there is almost no content except for the product listings and generic policy pages. It does not even contain an About Us page.
While testing the checkout process, I found that the PayPal account associated with the site carries the Chinese name ‘Wuling Qu Yajibaihuodian’.
There are some social media links given on the website but these are fake as they lead nowhere.
However, Plastictoyr does have a Facebook page that is also being used to advertise on Facebook and Instagram. It is utterly odd that this page isn’t linked on the website.
The page information also shows that it is being operated from China. Strangely, Germany is shown as a second location which is probably a deception.
The Contact Us page contains the following text that is also being used by hundreds of other websites:
We are committed to providing the best products and friendliest customer service. If you should have any questions about ordering or a question about any of our great products, please feel free to contact us with the information provided below.
It might be taken from some sort of template as several legitimate sites are using it too. I did my best to filter out sites that look genuine and ran an IP address analysis on the 62 remaining sites, including Plastictoyr.
I found that 42 out of 62 (67.7%) sites have shared or neighbouring IP addresses, hinting that they may be operated by the same owners. Plastictoyr itself shares an IP address with 4 of these sites.
Some of the seemingly related sites are indeed a part of the Uniqueness scam network.
The contact details provided on the page are an email ID and address. The email ID was found to be working when tested. The address seems to be completely fake as it is of a residence.
The same contact information was also being used by Ykspr.com which is one of the sites that has the same content and IP address as Plastictoyr. This drastically increases the chances of the contact details being fake.
No customer reviews for Plastictoyr could be found, probably because it is a new website and products can take a month or two to be delivered from China.
It seems highly likely that Plastictoyr and the 61 related websites may belong to the Uniqueness scam network of Chinese websites.
It is a new website created in March 2021 that is being operated anonymously. The location of ‘Montana’ has been mentioned in the domain registration which is improbable to be real. This is because Plastictoyr has been created using Shoplazza which is a Chinese e-commerce platform.
Other hints that Plastictoyr is a Chinese website are the PayPal account named ‘Wuling Qu Yajibaihuodian’ and the Facebook page being managed from China.
The prices on the site do not seem to be real as they are either hundreds of dollars lower than competitors or show fake discounts on falsely inflated prices.
The website is of very poor quality and does not even contain an About Us page. In fact, there are no company details given anywhere on the site. The only real contact information provided in an email address. An address of a location in Nevada has also been provided, but it is fake as it is of a residence.
The little text that is present on the website has been copied and is also being used on hundreds of other websites. While most of them were genuine, I was able to narrow down a list of 61 other websites that appear to be scams. Some of these sites also contain telltale signs of the Uniqueness Scam Network.
It is advisable to avoid shopping on Plastictoyr or any of the 61 related websites, as the odds of them being scams are high.
