Why is Mayers Retrieve Fake?

Mayers Retrieve (mayersretrievecom.com) claims to be a ‘recovery agency’ capable of getting back funds from investment scammers, including cryptocurrency. As I have written previously, cryptocurrency is nearly impossible to recover, which makes promises by new and unknown companies highly dubious.

A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 24th August 2021. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact information have been hidden using a paid service. Therefore, it is a relatively new website that is being operated anonymously from an unknown country.

Even though there is no evidence that Mayers Retrieve existed before August 2021, it is falsely implied in multiple instances that the website is older than it actually is. For example, the footer of the website mentions that it is active since 2020 and it is stated on the home page that Mayers Retrieve is active for 4+ years. These are blatant lies.

The overall quality of the website is extremely poor and it is apparent that the site was not created by professionals. Important documentation such as the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are missing. The website also has several blank pages and there are blatant spelling and grammar errors all across the site. The scammers cannot even decide if the company is called ‘Mayers Retreive’, ‘Mayors Recovery’ or ‘Mayers Recovery’.These are signs that Mayers Retrieve is not a legitimate business.

Upon analyzing the content on the website, I found that this same text has been used by at least 14 other recovery firm websites, all of which may be scams. The list of sites is given at the end of the article.

The website is run completely anonymously as not even the name of a single team member is mentioned anywhere. Mayers Retreive does not have a social media presence. The contact information given on the website includes an address, email ID and a phone/WhatsApp number.

I found that the address provided is fake as it is the location of a random house. The phone number is a VoIP number registered in California, which makes no sense as Mayers Retrieve claims to be located in Oklahoma. The number is used for WhatsApp support and is a virtual line that can be operated from anywhere in the world, making it likely that the number is operated by African scammers. Therefore, Mayers Retrieve can only be contacted by anonymous methods of email and WhatsApp.

The website is of poor quality and contains copied content. The same content can be found on at least 14 other websites, all of which may be scams. Important documentation such as the Privacy Policy and ToS are missing, making it obvious that Mayers Retrieve is not a professional operation.

Mayers Retrieve does not have a social media presence and the contact details provided show that it is likely to be a scam operation run by international scammers. The address provided is fake as it points to a residence. Even though Mayers Retrieve claims to be located in Oklahoma, it provides support using a virtual line registered in California.

No reviews for Mayers Retrieve could be found online. It is advisable to avoid hiring the services of Mayers Retrieve or any of the 14 similar websites as there is no reason to believe that they are legitimate crypto recovery companies.

Give a low rating to the website on Web of Trust. You can also install their extension for the same.
If the company has a listing on Google My Business or Google Maps, file a complaint using the Business Redressal Complaint Form. Also, leave a negative review explaining what kind of experience you had.
