Why is Lastlargely Fake?
Lastlargely is a website that claims to be selling a random assortment of goods at low prices. The prices seem too good to be true and all the content of the website appears to have been stolen from other websites.
There are multiple indications that Lastlargely is part of the Uniqueness Scam Network of fake shopping sites created by organized Chinese cybercriminals.
A domain name lookup of the website shows that lastlargely.com was registered on 5th May 2022 from Guangdong, China. The registrant’s details such as name and contact details have been hidden using a privacy guard. Therefore, it is a relatively new website being run anonymously from a high-risk country.
When I checked the About page, I found that it contains the same text as websites associated with the Uniqueness Scam Network. Upon analyzing the content, I found that there are at least 357 similar active websites, all of which may be scams. The list of websites is given at the end of the article.
Even though it is apparent that Lastlargely is operated from China, the Terms & Conditions page falsely states that the site operates as per UK laws. This seems like a deliberate attempt to hide the site’s Chinese origins. Further, no company information has been provided anywhere on the website.
While testing the checkout process, I found that the PayPal account is simply named ‘Shop’ and this could be because the same account is used for processing payments on several different scam websites operated by the same fraudsters.
Even though there are no social media pages mentioned on the website, I found that there are are more than a dozen different Facebook pages created for Lastlargely which are being used for advertising. Even the videos being used for advertising have been stolen from genuine brands such as PeterThomasRoth.
The only contact information provided on the website is the email ID ‘support@lastlargely.com‘ and there is no other way to reach Lastlargely for customer support.
There are almost no customer reviews for Lastlargely written online, which is odd as the site was supposedly created in 2022. There are four positive reviews and one negative review, however, the positive reviews are likely to be fake as they were all written between November 17-22 and are generic. The only review which seems genuine is a negative review complaining that the customer never received the order and there is no customer support.
This is in line with sites operated by the Uniqueness Scam Network, as common complaints include false advertising, products being shipped from China, late or no delivery, poor customer service and refusal to provide refunds. It is quite obvious that Lastlargely and the 357 similar sites are likely to be scams operated by Chinese cybercrime networks.
Lastlargely is a relatively new site created anonymously from China in April 2022. The prices are too good to be true and there are signs that it is operated by organized Chinese cybercriminals. The website content is copied and the same text has been found on thousands of fake online stores, several of which have been confirmed to be scams. I found that there are at least 357 active websites using the same content as Lastlargely and are likely to be operated by the same fraudsters.
Even though it is apparent that Lastlargely is run from China, the site falsely claims that it operates under UK laws to deceive customers. The only way to contact Lastlargely after making a purchase is by email and the site contains no company information. I found some positive reviews which seem to be fake and the only review which seems genuine states that Lastlargely is a scam.
It is advisable to avoid shopping on Lastlargely or any of the 357 similar sites as they do not seem to be genuine businesses.
If you think that you have been scammed by any of these sites, you can contact PayPal or your bank for a full refund. Don’t accept a partial refund citing that the product is not what you ordered and refuse to ship the items back to China as the merchant claims to be located in the UK.
