Why Is Frienit Fake?

Frienit is a website that claims to be selling Christmas decorations such as trees, wreaths, ribbons, ornaments, ribbons and more. The website is trying to portray itself as a Canadian business, but this is not the case as we will see later. The website looks generic the images seem to have been copied from Pinterest.

A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 23rd September 2020. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact details have been hidden for privacy.

Frienit scam whois

The About Us page of the website says that Frienit is a family-owned business operating since 1998 from Toronto. However, this text has been copied from a legitimate website called Decorator’s Warehouse based in Texas.

When I tried to complete a purchase using PayPal, I noticed that the account is of a Chinese company named Shenzhen Daokuan Technology Co., Ltd.

The only social media profile listed on Frienit’s website is a Facebook page. The page information shows that it is being operated from Brazil, Bangladesh and Taiwan. Note that none of the page admins are from Canada.

The contact detials given on the website are an email ID and address. The email ID is of a completely different website called aquiverstore.com. The website itself is inactive, however, I found that there are at least 111 websites and Facebook pages using an @aquiverstore.com email ID. The full list is given at the end of the article.

The address seems to be incomplete as it is a street address that is likely to be fake.

No customer reviews for Frienit could be found, probably because it is a new website.

It seems quite obvious that Frienit is a scam. The website is low-quality and uses images that seem to be copied from Pinterest. Frienit tries to give the impression that it is a family-owned business based in Toronto, but the content on the website has been lifted from a genuine website called Decorator’s Warehouse based in Texas.

The PayPal account used on the website belongs to a Chinese company named Shenzhen Daokuan Technology Co., Ltd. The Facebook page is being operated from locations such as Taiwan, Bangladesh and Brazil. Therefore, it is quite clear that Frienit is not the website of a Canadian business.

The only way to contact the company is by email. The email ID provided is of a completely different website called aquiverstore.com. There are at least 111 websites using an @aquiverstore.com email address. Therefore, there is a high chance that Frienit is part of a Chinese scam network of fake online stores.

It is advisable to avoid shopping on Frienit, as it does not seem to be a genuine website. The company is driving traffic to the website through Facebook ads. If you come across any ad by Frienit, it would be wise to report it as a scam. You can also report the ads by going here.
