Why is Fashiongiegie Fake?
Fashiongiegie is a website that claims to be selling mass-produced Chinese clothing at low prices. The prices seem to be highly inflated as the same products are available for a fraction of the price on sites like Aliexpress.
There are multiple indications that Fashiongiegie is part of the Uniqueness Scam Network of fake shopping sites created by organized Chinese cybercriminals.
A domain name lookup of the website shows that Fashiongiegie.com was registered on 15th July 2021. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact details have been hidden using a privacy guard. However, there are reasons to believe that the site is operated from China, which are revealed later in the article. Therefore, it is a relatively new website being run anonymously from a high-risk country.
When I checked the About page, I found that it falsely states that the company is active since 2017, even though the site did not exist before 2021. More importantly, it contains the same text as websites associated with the Uniqueness Scam Network and upon analyzing the content, I found that there are at least 33 similar active websites, all of which may be scams. The list of websites is given at the end of the article.
The About page provides the below company details which seem to be completely fake:

The email address is a random Gmail ID and the physical address provided points to a residence. I also looked up the company registration information and there does not seem to be any real relation between Fashiongiegie and VCM Lodging. As all the other details are fake, it is likely that the phone number is fake too. Therefore, there does not seem to be any real way to contact Fashiongiegie after making a purchase.
While testing the checkout process, I discovered that a suspiciously Chinese-sounding PayPal account named ‘XIAZHAO’ is being used for collecting payments. The account is likely to be used on other websites operated by the same scammers too.
Fashiongiegie does not seem to have a social media presence. I could not find any customer reviews for it either, which is odd and may mean that the site has recently gone live and is not active since 2021.
As the site seems to be operated by the Uniqueness Scam Network, customers can expect false advertising, products being shipped from China, late or no delivery, poor customer service and refusal to provide refunds. It is quite obvious that Fashiongiegie and the 33 similar sites are likely to be scams operated by Chinese cybercrime networks.
Fashiongiegie is a relatively new site created anonymously in July 2021. The prices seem to be inflated and there are signs that it is operated by organized Chinese cybercriminals. The website content is copied and the same text has been found on hundreds of fake online stores, some of which have been confirmed to be scams. I found that there are at least 33 active websites using the same content as Fashiongiegie and are likely to be operated by the same fraudsters.
The PayPal account used for processing payments is named ‘XIAZHAO’ which sounds like a Chinese name. Despite multiple indications that Fashiongiegie is likely to be run from China, the site claims that it operates under US laws and a random USA address has been provided to deceive customers. There is no real way to contact Fashiongiegie after making a purchase and the site contains fake company information. No customer reviews for Fashiongiegie could be found online either.
It is advisable to avoid shopping on Fashiongiegie or any of the 33 similar sites as they do not seem to be genuine businesses.
If you think that you have been scammed by any of these sites, you can contact PayPal or your bank for a full refund. Don’t accept a partial refund citing that the product is not what you ordered and refuse to ship the items back to China as the merchant claims to be located in the USA.
