Is F2PoolOption Fake or Real?
Fake
Why Is F2PoolOption Fake?
F2PoolOption is a website which claims to provide cloud mining services for various cryptocurrencies. It is supposed to make investing in cryptocurrencies easier my removing the need for investing in expensive equipment and electricity.
At first glance, F2PoolOption’s entire website is filled with grammatical and spelling errors, and therefore does not inspire confidence that it is real.
F2PoolOption seems to be implying that it is related to F2Pool, which seems to be a legitimate cloud crypto mining company that has been operation since 2013. However, there is no information given on F2Pool’s website that confirms that the two companies are related. There is also some registration information provided on F2PoolOption which is copied directly from the original F2Pool website.
A domain name lookup of F2PoolOption shows that it was registered on 12th February 2020. There is no information available about the registrant’s location and name as it has been blocked for privacy.
There are no contact details provided on F2PoolOption’s website. The only way to get in touch with them is through a contact form.
Though the home page of F2PoolOption only mentions their packages, the FAQ section mentions an upline. This is a term that is commonly used by pyramid schemes and refers to the person who has invited you to join the program. The FAQs imply that there is a referral program associated with the website. This means that F2PoolOption incentivizes bringing in more investors to the website and is likely to be a pyramid scheme.
There are two separate pages for F2PoolOption on Facebook. However, neither of the pages contain any reviews or updates. One of the number has listed the Facebook page of the original F2Pool as its website and carries a number which is listed in Phoenix, Arizona.
There do not seem to be any reviews for F2PoolOption available on other websites either. There is one review by a person claiming that he got scammed by a website called f2pool.pro. When he contacted F2Pool.com for a refund, he was told that there is no connection between F2Pool and f2pool.pro. Therefore, it seems that there are websites impersonating F2Pool.
Considering all the above information, it seems that F2PoolOption is a scam. There is no proof that they are affiliated with F2Pool. The website was clearly not created in 2013 as it tries to claim and there are signs that it is a pyramid scheme. There is no contact information given or the names of anyone associated with F2PoolOption. There are no reviews available and the social media pages seem to be dummies. There is some evidence that there are websites pretending to be the original F2Pool.
There is a high probability that F2PoolOption is an outright scam or a pyramid scheme. As we have seen earlier on this blog with examples such as Hashflare and FastProfitOptions, there are many scammers operating under the guise of bitcoin cloud mining companies. As such, there is nothing to suggest that F2PoolOption is a trustworthy website to invest with.
*UPDATE*
Immediately after publishing the link to this article on Twitter, I received a confirmation from the original F2Pool that F2PoolOption is a scam.
How to Get Your Money Back from a Scam
Remember: If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
If you have been a victim of an investment scam, you can take the following steps:
- File a complaint with the payment portal. However, investment scammers mostly use methods such as Bitcoin, Western Union, MoneyGram and other untraceable methods which make refunds impossible.
- Leave a negative review on review portals such as Scamadviser and TrustPilot
- Report the website to Google using the Suspicious Site Reporter extension for Chrome
- Give a low rating to the website on Web of Trust. You can also install their extension for the same.
- If the company has a listing on Google My Business or Google Maps, file a complaint using the Business Redressal Complaint Form. Also, leave a negative review explaining what kind of experience you had.
