Is DeWaltset Fake or Real?
Fake
Why Is DeWaltset Fake?
DeWaltset is a website that claims to be selling DeWalt brand power tools at enormous discounts. There is no indication given that it is not an official website. However, the real website of DeWalt is dewalt.com and it does not look like DeWaltset has any authorization to use the trademarks and intellectual properties of DeWalt. It seems to be a fake website intended to deceive unsuspecting consumers.
The prices are incredible as the discounts are as high as 88% in some cases. ‘Too good to be true’ prices are often the most obvious sign of a scam.
The website is also using the .ga domain extension, which is intended for use by companies doing business in the Central African country of Gabon. The domain ‘dewaltset.ga’ was probably purchased because no other domains with ‘DeWalt’ in the name were available or simply because .ga domains might be cheaper to acquire.
A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 4th January 2021. The registrant’s name has been given as Lee SuYeon who is supposedly based in South Korea. The contact details provided are an email address leesuyeon@apexscore.com and phone number +82 536603164.
The content on the website has quite clearly been copied. The images are most likely stolen as they are low-quality and the text content has been taken from the website of Lifetime Products.
While testing the checkout process, I found that the PayPal account associated with the website carries no company name. It only shows a random email ID lingui85755445@126.com
DeWaltset does not have a social media presence. There are no contact details provided on the website either. The only way to contact them is using a contact form. No reviews for the website could be found either.
It seems quite obvious that DeWaltset is a scam. The website is less than a month old and is impersonating the official website of DeWalt. The site uses a .ga domain which is for businesses in the country of Gabon. The domain name itself has been registered under the name of an individual in South Korea.
The prices on the website are hard to believe as the discounts are as high as 88%. The images and text are all stolen. The content on the About Us page has been lifted verbatim from the website of Lifetime Products.
The PayPal account used by DeWaleset does not have any company name. Instead, the account name is shown as lingui85755445@126.com. There are no contact details provided on the website and there are no reviews to vouch that the website is genuine. It is advisable to avoid shopping on DeWaltset, as all the signs point to it being a scam.
