Why is Damnite Likely Fake?

Damnite is a website that claims to be selling an assortment of mass-produced Chinese goods at low prices. The prices of the items seem to be rather inflated as the same can be bought for lower prices on Aliexpress.

Damnite’s prices are the least of my issues with the website. What I found immensely strange is that the website has strict limits on the number of products customers can buy (one product) as well as the amount of money they can spend ($50) per order. A new and unknown website actively discouraging customers from buying more items doesn’t strike me as normal. Could it be a way to avoid fraud detection by credit card companies?

A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 4th August 2022 from Guizhousheng, China. The registrant’s other details such as name and contact information have not been made public. Therefore, it is a new website operated anonymously from a high-risk country.

Firstly, this is the same text found on websites in the Uniqueness Scam Network, a large network of scam sites run by organized cybercriminals from China which I have written about several times in the past. I discovered at least 393 websites using the same content as Damnite. Qti.Ai’s Scami uncovered 754 additional sites using this text too, adding up to a total of 1,147 websites related to Damnite which are likely to be scams. The text also mentions the email ID ‘service@clientsupporter.com’ which is of a completely different and inactive website. Apart from this, the company name ‘Zunkix Trading Co., Limited’ has been given but no additional information has been provided. The same company is mentioned on the Terms & Conditions page too.

However, as the Terms & Conditions of Damnite state that the website is operated from the UK, I decided to look up the company on the UK Companies House register. What I found is that Zunkix Trading Co., Limited was registered just a few days Damnite’s website was created. The company owner is Chinese, hinting that Zunkix may be a shell company created to launder money from the UK to China.

Damnite does not seem to have a social media presence as there are no social media pages linked on Damnite’s website and I could not find any on my own either.

The Contact Us page of the website contains no information except for the email ID ‘service@clientsupporter.com’. Therefore, Damnite can only be contacted by email.

I could not find any customer reviews for Damnite, which is not surprising as the site is just a few days old at the time of writing this. If you want to share your review of Damnite, you can do so in the comments below or on my social media pages.

Going by past reviews of sites in the Uniqueness Scam Network, it is likely that customers will be bait-and-switched with low-quality goods or counterfeits. Common complaints with these sites include false advertising, late or no delivery, poor customer service and refusal to provide refunds.

Conclusion

There is a high likelihood that Damnite and the 1,147 similar sites may all be scams operated by the Uniqueness Scam Network from China.

Damnite is a new site created anonymously from China in August 2022. I found that there are 1,147 websites that have the same content as Damnite and are likely to be operated by the same owners. The prices on the website are inflated compared to competitors like Aliexpress.

The oddest thing about the website is that customers can only buy a single item and they are not allowed to spend more than $50 per purchase. It is unclear why a new and unknown business like Damnite would force customers to spend less; perhaps it is a tactic to avoid fraud detection.

While the website tries to give a false impression that Damnite is a UK-based operation, it actually seems to be a Chinese business. The domain name has been registered from China and the UK-registered company is owned by a Chinese national.

Damnite has no social media presence and only the email ID of a different website has been provided for support. No customer reviews could be found online.

It is advisable to avoid shopping on Damnite or any of the 1,147 similar websites as the prices are inflated. Going by the track record of sites associated with Damnite, customers are likely to receive low-quality goods or nothing at all.

If you think that you have been scammed by any of these sites, you can contact your bank for a full refund. Don’t accept a partial refund citing that the product is not what you ordered and refuse to ship the items back to China as the merchant claims to be located in the UK.
