Why is Chargeback Tech (chargeback.tech) Fake?
Chargeback Tech (chargeback.tech) claims to help victims of online investment scams recover their lost funds, including cryptocurrency. As I have explained previously, cryptocurrency is nearly impossible to recover, which makes promises by new and unknown companies highly suspect.
A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 31st August 2022. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact information have been hidden using a privacy guard. Therefore, it is a relatively new website that is being operated anonymously from an unknown country.
Even though chargeback.tech clearly did not exist before August 2022, it is falsely mentioned on the website that they are operating since 2017. There is no evidence of this being true and seems like a blatant lie to appear credible. I discovered that the entire content has been copied from the website of Crypto Asset Recovery.
The overall quality of the website is extremely poor and it is obvious that the site was not created by professionals. Important documentation such as the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy are fake too. The reasons are are follows:
- It is stated that the documents were updated in July 2022, which is impossible as the site was created in September 2022.
- The company name Chargeback Tech LLC is mentioned which is completely false as the company is registered under a different name and is not an LLC as it is registered in the UK (LLCs are American companies).
- The address ‘5 Ross Rd., Durham, NH 03824‘ is mentioned which is fake as it is a residence.
Upon analyzing the site’s content, I found that there are at least 34 other fake crypto recovery sites using the same text and even the client testimonials have been copied. The list of sites is given at the end of the article.
A UK company registration certificate is provided for ‘Chargeback Technology Limited‘ which is fishy as it shows that the company is registered under the name of a 73-year old American. Additionally, the registration address provided is also being used by 540 other companies.
In any case, a UK company registration means next to nothing as it can be purchased online for £12 without submitting any verification documents.
Chargeback Tech does not have a social media presence. There are social media icons given on the website but they are fake as they lead nowhere.
There are no contact details provided on the Contact Us page and the only way to contact Chargeback Tech is through a form.
I could not find any reviews for Chargeback Tech. There are no reviews written by clients of Chargeback Tech on sites like ScamAdviser and Trustpilot. If you want to share your review of this website, you can do so in the comments below or on my social media pages.

It seems quite obvious that Chargeback Tech and the 34 similar websites are likely to be fake money recovery agencies trying to scam people who have already been scammed. The site is being operated anonymously since September 2022 and there is no evidence that it is a real company despite Chargeback Technology Limited having a UK registration certificate.
Even though the website was created only in 2022, they falsely claim that the company is active since 2017. The website is of low quality and all the content has been copied from Crypto Asset Recovery. Important documentation such as the Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions are fake. The testimonials and Founder’s name are fake too, making it obvious that Chargeback Tech is not a legitimate business.
Chargeback Tech does not have a social media presence and no reviews for it could be found. The address provided is fake and the only way to contact them is using a contact form.
It is advisable to avoid hiring the services of Chargeback Tech and 34 similar sites as there are no reasons to believe that they are legitimate crypto recovery agencies.
How to Get Your Money Back from a Scam
Remember: If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
If you have been a victim of a money recovery scam, you can take the following steps:
- File a formal police complaint with the Cybercrime department.
- File a complaint with the payment portal. However, recovery scammers mostly use cryptocurrency which makes getting a refund impossible.
- Leave a negative review on review portals such as ScamAdviser and TrustPilot
- Report the website to Google using the Suspicious Site Reporter extension for Chrome
- Give a low rating to the website on Web of Trust. You can also install their extension for the same.
- If the company has a listing on Google My Business or Google Maps, file a complaint using the Business Redressal Complaint Form. Also, leave a negative review explaining what kind of experience you had.
