Why is Wilkoclosing Fake?

Wilkoclosing is a website that claims to be selling various products at deep discounts. The website is an obvious scam that has no relation to the real Wilko brand and is running a ‘store closing’ fake clearance sale.

The prices on the website are simply too good to be true, which is often the most clear indication of a scam.

There are multiple indications that the website is part of the Uniqueness Scam Network of fake shopping sites created by organized Chinese cybercriminals.

A domain name lookup of the website shows that wilkoclosing.com was registered on 19th August 2023 from Henan, China. The registrant’s other details such as name and contact details have not been provided. Therefore, it is a new website being run anonymously from a high-risk country.

The About Us page contains the same text as websites associated with the Uniqueness Scam Network and upon analyzing the content, I found that there are at least 288 similar websites, all of which are likely to be scams. The list of websites is given at the end of the article.

Though the website does not link to any social media profiles, I found that Wilkoclosing has at least four separate Facebook pages with names such as ‘Stock Clearance’ and ‘Factory Flash Sale’ which are being used for running advertisements on Facebook and Instagram.

Additionally, there are no contact details given on the website except the address of a random Wilko store in the UK.

I was alerted about Wilkoclosing by a Facebook follower who was scammed by the website. They stated that their order payment went to a random website called Shcherma (shcherma.com) which appears to be one of the thousands of fake websites run by the Uniqueness Scam Network.

I found several customer reviews for Wilkoclosing on Trustpilot and they are exclusively negative. The reviewers have reiterated that Wilkoclosing is a scam as they never received their orders, tracking details were fake and the payments were directed to Shcherma.

They have also mentioned that customer support is non-existent. One of the reviewers has also mentioned that the email ID ‘lisa@serviceyx.com’ was provided was support, which is of a completely different website.

It is quite obvious that Wilkoclosing and the 290 similar sites are likely to be scams operated by Chinese organized cybercriminals.

Wilkoclosing is a new site created anonymously from China in August 2023. It is running a fake clearance sale by pretending to be an online Wilko outlet even though the site is no relation with the brand. I found that there are at least 288 websites using the same content as Wilkoclosing and are likely to be operated by the same fraudsters.

No social media pages are linked on the website even though I found that 4 different Facebook pages are being used to advertise Wilkoclosing.

Several customers have complained that Wilkoclosing is a scam as the products are not delivered, fake tracking details are provided there is no customer service and payments are directed to a random website called Shcherma. There is no way to contact Wilkoclosing after making a purchase.

It is advisable to avoid shopping on Wilkoclosing or any of the 291 similar websites as they do not seem to be genuine businesses.

If you think that you have been scammed by any of these sites, you can contact PayPal or your bank for a full refund. Don’t accept a partial refund citing that the product is not what you ordered and refuse to ship the items back to China as the merchant has not provided company details such as the name and address.
