Why is Typing Work Fake?
Typing Work is a company which claims to provide various data-entry jobs such as form filling and typing. The website looks like it was made in a hurry as very little effort has been put into it. The website of Typing Work looks like the company has simply picked up a template and changed the text. They have done a sloppy job as some of the original text is still left on the page.
A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 12th May 2020 in Gujarat. No information is available about the registrant.
The website is very bare and contains only the home page and a separate page for logging in to their portal. There is a Testimonials section on the home page which seems to be fake. The testimonials are generic and the images used are stocked photos copied from other websites. There are also social media icons under the testimonials which are dummy links.
There is no information given about the company such as an email ID or phone number. Only an address is provided which is 707, Infinity Complex, Bestan, Surat, Gujarat.
When I tried to verify this address, I came across many complaints on sites like Consumer Complaints, JagoGrahakJago and Kaanoon and against a company named Typing Task (typingtask.com). The website of Typing Task no longer exists but it seemed to have been offering similar jobs as Typing Work. The address provided by them is the same as Typing Work.
The complainants say that they got a call from the company offering a work-from-home job filling forms. They were asked to send their identification documents on WhatsApp and were sent login details for the portal, as well an agreement saying that if they fail to complete the given work within the deadline, they will be fined ₹6,000. The work which they gave was impossible to complete and when the complainants refused to pay, Typing Task threatened them with legal action.
The names Chetan D Dhimar and Chirag Jain have been mentioned as the company’s advocate and legal advisor respectively. A phone number was also given by one of the complainants, which is listed as ‘Fraud’ on TrueCaller and is supposedly active in Delhi.
No reviews could be found for TypingWork, but because both companies are using the same address and offer the same kinds of work, it seems that TypingTask has changed its name to TypingWork after people filed complaints against them.
It seems obvious that Typing Work is a scam. The data entry job scam is a very common one, as we have seen in several examples on this blog itself: Employment Scams
The website is poorly made which shows it is not run by real professionals, the testimonials are fake and there are no contact details provided. All signs indicate that TypingWork is just a name change of the fraud website TypingTask. They call people up pretending to provide jobs and demand money for not delivering work per their fake legal agreement. It is advisable to not accept any work from Typing Work and there is no need to be scared if they threaten legal action, as it is not a real company. How to Get Your Money Back from a Scam
Remember: If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
If you have been a victim of an employment scam, you can take the following steps:
- Lodge a complaint at the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal
- Lodge a complaint with PayTM on Twitter, Customer Care or through the app, UPI app such as Google Pay or the Bank with which the company has an account.
- Report the website to Google using the Suspicious Site Reporter extension for Chrome
- Give a low rating to the website on Web of Trust. You can also install their extension for the same.
- File a complaint with the Indian Consumer Complaints Forum
- Write a review on websites such as MouthShut, Scamadviser and TrustPilot.
- Block all numbers of the scammers on TrueCaller, mentioning the words Fake, Fraud or Scam in the name.
- If the company has a listing on Google My Business or Google Maps, file a complaint using the Business Redressal Complaint Form. Also, leave a negative review explaining what kind of experience you had.
