Why Is Standard Bit Pool Fake?

Standard Bit Pool is a website that claims to be an online investment platform. The first suspicious sign about this company is that this no-name company claims to invest in everything from cryptocurrency to binary options to stocks.

There is nothing to suggest that Standard Bit Pool really has the expertise to handle such a portfolio. Curiously, the website heavily emphasises Bitcoin mining.

A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 13th November 2020. The registrant’s details such as name, location and email address have been hidden for privacy. This means that the company is operating anonymously.

The website of Standard Bit Pool is quite poorly-made as it contains nothing but the home page. The About section states that the company is operating since 2017. This is clearly a lie as the website did not exist before November 2020.

Additionally, the company also claims to be registered by the ‘United Trading Council’ with the registration number 229-602-2657. Not only is there no organization named the ‘United Trading Council’, but the same registration number is also being used by numerous other online investment websites, all of which may be scams. The full list is given at the end of the article.

The website also provides the names and images of some team members. No LinkedIn profiles of these people exist. I found that the same team members are also present on several other online investment websites. The images of the team members are stock photos.

The same is the case with the Testimonials. The images of the reviewers have been copied from various sources and the same reviews are present on various other websites.

Standard Bit Pool does not seem to have a social media presence. The social media icons given in the website footer are dummies as they lead nowhere.

The contact details provided on the website are an email ID, phone number and address. All these details seem to be fake for the following reasons:

  • The email ID does not work
  • The address is of a location in Washington DC and is only a street address
  • The phone number is a VoIP number registered in Alabama. As it is a virtual number, it can be operated from anywhere in the world. This means that Standard Bit Pool may not be an American company at all.

There are no reviews available for Standard Bit Pool, which is not surprising as it is a new website.

It is quite evident that Standard Bit Pool is a scam. The website claims that the company has been running since 2017 even though the domain has only been registered in November 2020. It claims to be registered under a non-existent entity called the United Trading Council. The text on the website is copied as it is also being used by other investment platforms that may all be scams.

The information about the Team Members as well as the Testimonials are all fake. The images used are stock photos, there are no LinkedIn profiles of the members and the same testimonials are present on umpteen other websites.

The social media icons on the website do not work. The contact information provided seems to be fake too. The address is incomplete and is of a location in Washington DC. The phone number provided is a VoIP number registered in Alabama. The email ID does not work at all.

It is advisable to avoid investing with Standard Bit Pool, as it does not seem to be a genuine company. It is likely to be a website run by African scammers.

How to Get Your Money Back from a Scam

Remember: If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

If you have been a victim of an investment scam, you can take the following steps:

  1. File a complaint with the payment portal. However, investment scammers mostly use methods such as Bitcoin, Western Union, MoneyGram and other untraceable methods which make refunds impossible.
  2. File a formal police complaint with the Cybercrime department.
  3. Leave a negative review on review portals such as Scamadviser and TrustPilot
  4. Report the website to Google using the Suspicious Site Reporter extension for Chrome
  5. Give a low rating to the website on Web of Trust. You can also install their extension for the same.
  6. If the company has a listing on Google My Business or Google Maps, file a complaint using the Business Redressal Complaint Form. Also, leave a negative review explaining what kind of experience you had.
