Likely Real

Why is Solstice Collections Likely Real?

Solstice Collections is an online store which claims to sell various Solstice-themed t-shirts.

A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 19th May 2020. Other information such as the registrant’s name and location have been hidden for privacy.

Even though the website is less than two months old, all the products are marked as being on sale. The designs also seem to not be original as they can be found on various other products and pages.

The Terms of Service page of Solstice Collections mentions the parent company as DSL Holdings LLC. A google search showed that the same parent company also supposedly owns the website Christian Lifestyle Collections (christianlifestylecollections.com). The two websites are similar in design and content. I was able to reach out to Christian Lifestyle Collections on Facebook and confirm that Solstice Collections is indeed a related venture.

The Return/Refund Policy of the website mentions that the company has a 30 day return policy. Weirdly, there is also a clause that apparel such as t-shirts are non-returnable, even though that’s the only product this website sells.

The same page also contains a return address which is located in South Carolina which could not be verified using Google maps. The company does not have an official listing on Google maps and the StreetView did not show a store for Solstice Collections.

The Contact Us page of the website mentions an email ID and a phone number, both of which were found to be valid when tested using MailTester and TextMagic respectively. The phone number carries the area code for Pennsylvania even though the address provided is on South Carolina.

There is also supposed to be a link for a Facebook page which does not function. This is likely because the page template for Solstice Collections was copied from Christian Lifestyle Collections. On the website of Christian Lifestyle Collections, this page links to a Facebook group with 8,000+ members and they also have an active Facebook page with over 9,000 followers.

There are no user reviews available for either Solstice Collections or Christian Lifestyle Collections to ascertain whether they deliver products on time and as per the expected quality.

Even though there are a lot of red flags, I have a feeling that Solstice Collections is not a scam. The designs seem to be plagiarized. The phone number and address are of different states and it’s odd for all products to be on sale for a new website. The Facebook link used is also a dummy and Solstice Collections doesn’t seem to have any social media presence. The returns policy says t-shirts cannot be returns despite that being the only kind of item they sell.

The entire reason for me judging this website to be real is because Christian Lifestyle Collections gave a confirmation that Solstice Collections is actually owned by the same company. They also promptly replied to my query on Facebook which is atypical of scam websites. Christian Lifestyle Collections also doesn’t have any negative reviews despite the company being around 17 months old. If they were a scam there would have been some signs online by now. However, there are no positive reviews either.

I still advise users to shop with caution on Solstice Collections as there are no user reviews to vouch for their authenticity. You should try getting in contact with a real person from the company and clarify the contradiction regarding the return policy before committing to a purchase.
