Why is Shinerme Likely Fake?

Shinerme (shinerme.co.uk) is a website that claims to be selling an assortment of mass-produced Chinese goods at low prices. The prices of the items seem to be rather inflated as the same can be bought for a fraction of the price on Aliexpress. The nonsensical pricing makes it immediately apparent that something is off with Shinerme.

A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 17th September 2021. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact information have not been made public. However, there are clear indications that Shinerme is operated from China, which I will go into later in the article. Therefore, it is a relatively new website operated anonymously from a high-risk country.

The About Us page contains the following text:

This is the same text found on websites in the Uniqueness Scam Network, a large network of scam sites run by organized cybercriminals from China which I have written about several times in the past. I discovered at least 297 websites using the same content as Shinerme. Qti.Ai’s Scami uncovered 752 additional sites using this text too, adding up to a total of 1,049 websites which are likely to be scams. The full list of sites is given at the end of the article.

On the Terms & Conditions page, it is stated that Shinerme operates as per UK laws. However, this is contradicted on the same page as the company details show that the site is run by a Chinese company.

The following company details are provided. Suspiciously, the data has been formatted as an image, presumably to hide it from search engines as the same information is present on hundreds of websites:

While testing the checkout process, I found that the PayPal account associated with the website has the name Jucynie Inc. This is alarming as there is no mention of this company anywhere on Shinerme’s website.

Even though there are no social media pages linked on Shinerme’s website, I found that two separate pages have been created for it. Only one of the pages is active and it is being managed from China. Advertisements are also being run on Facebook and Instagram using this page.

The Contact Us page of the website contains no information except for the email ID ‘customer@shinerme.co.uk’. Therefore, Shinerme can only be contacted by email.

I could not find any customer reviews for Shinerme, which is a bit surprising as the site is almost a year old already. If you want to share your review of Shinerme, you can do so in the comments below or on my social media pages.

Going by past reviews of sites in the Uniqueness Scam Network, it is likely that customers will be bait-and-switched with low-quality goods or counterfeits. Common complaints with these sites include false advertising, late or no delivery, poor customer service and refusal to provide refunds.

Conclusion

There is an enormous likelihood that Shinerme and the 1,049 similar sites may all be scams operated by the Uniqueness Scam Network from China.

Shinerme is a new site created anonymously from China in September 2021. I found that there are 1,049 websites that have the same content as Shinerme and are likely to be operated by the same owners.

While the website tries to give the false impression that Shinerme is a UK-based operation, the site only contains the information of Saker Tech Limited based in Hong Kong. Further, the PayPal account associated with the website is named Jucynie Inc., suggesting that the owners of Shinerme may be using a complex network of PayPal accounts to launder money to China.

Shinerme has two Facebook pages out of which one is active. The page is managed from China and is also being used for running advertisements. No customer reviews could be found for Shinerme.

It is advisable to avoid shopping on Shinerme or any of the 1,049 similar websites as the prices are highly inflated. Going by the track record of sites associated with Shinerme, customers are likely to receive low-quality goods or nothing at all.

If you think that you have been scammed by any of these sites, you can contact PayPal or your bank for a full refund. Don’t accept a partial refund citing that the product is not what you ordered and refuse to ship the items back to China as the merchant claims to be located in the UK.
