Why is Guessstarca Fake?

Guessstarca (guessstarca.com) is a website that claims to be selling various generic Chinese goods at discounts. The website is of poor quality and shows signs of being a Chinese scam right from the start. Guessstarca is being heavily promoted on Facebook and the prices are simply too good to be true, which is often the most obvious indication of a scam.

A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 22nd July 2023. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact details have been hidden using a privacy guard. However, there are multiple indications that the site is operated from China, which I will reveal later in the article. Therefore, Guessstarca is a new website operated anonymously from a high-risk country.

The About Us page contains the following text:

It has been observed that the same text is used on thousands of confirmed scam websites in the Uniqueness Scam Network which I have cautioned readers about numerous times in the past. In a fresh analysis, I found that there are at least 348 websites related to Guessstarca, all of which are likely to be scams. The full list of sites is given at the end of the article.

The website has multiple banners claiming that PayPal is offered for secure payments. However, this is false as I found that only credit cards are accepted. Such glaring mistakes show that Guessstarca is not a genuine business.

The Terms & Conditions page states that site operates as per the laws of Hong Kong and the below company details of Novva Limited have been provided:

Company Name: NOVVA LIMITED
Company Address: FLAT 1512, 15/F, LUCKY CENTRE, NO. 165-171
WAN CHAI ROAD, WAN CHAI, HONG KONG

It is probable that Novva Limited may be a Chinese shell company operating hundreds of fake online stores. When I checked the reviews of Novva Limited, I discovered that it is associated with numerous websites running bait-and-switch scams in the Uniqueness Scam Network.

There are no social media pages liked on Guessstarca’s website. However, I found that the site is being promoted through advertisements on Facebook and Instagram. The page information confirms that it is operated from China and the advertiser is anonymous as the name is simply given as ‘XG’.

The Contact Us page of the website again contains the email ID ‘customerservices@guessstarca.com‘ and the company details of Novva Limited. Therefore, there is no real way to contact Guessstarca after making a purchase.

I could not find any customer reviews for Guessstarca, which is not surprising considering that the website is new. If you want to share your review of this site, you can do so in the comments below or on my social media pages.

Going by past reviews of sites in the Uniqueness Scam Network, it is likely that customers will be bait-and-switched with low-quality goods or counterfeits. Common complaints with these sites include false advertising, late or no delivery, poor customer service and refusal to provide refunds.

Conclusion

It is extremely likely that Guessstarca and the 348 similar sites may all be scams operated by the Uniqueness Scam Network from China, under the guise of shell companies such as Novva Limited.

Guessstarca is a new site created anonymously from China in July 2023. The website is poorly-made and it uses the same content which is found on thousands of confirmed scam websites. The prices are too good to be true, which almost always signals a scam.

There are multiple signs suggesting that Guessstarca is a Chinese operation, but it has been stated that the website is operated by Novva Limited registered in Hong Kong, which is likely to be a Chinese shell company. I found that there are at least 348 websites related to Guessstarca and Novva Limited which may all be scams.

It is advisable to avoid shopping on Guessstarca or any of the 348 similar websites as there are no reasons to believe that they are genuine businesses.

If you think that you have been scammed by any of these sites, you can contact PayPal or your bank for a full refund. Don’t accept a partial refund citing that the product is not what you ordered and refuse to ship the items back to China as the merchant claims to be located in Hong Kong.
