Is Fundrecoverydesk Fake or Real?
Fake
Why is Fundrecoverydesk Fake?
Fundrecoverydesk is supposedly a company that claims to be capable of recovering cryptocurrency deposits from scammers. As I have written previously, cryptocurrency is nearly impossible to recover, which makes promises by new and unknown companies highly dubious.
A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 6th March 2020. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact information have been hidden using a paid service. Therefore, it is a relatively new website that is being operated anonymously.
Even though it is clear that Fundrecoverydesk’s website did not exist before March 2020, the website footer displays a blatant lie that it has been active since 2013. There is absolutely no evidence of this being true.
The About Us page of Fundrecoverydesk’s website contains the following text:
Funds Recovery is a consulting firm that specializes in the recovery of assets from online and offline financial fraud.
Our primary focus is on Binary Options, Crypto Currencies, CFD’S and Forex scams, we have created the biggest database by far on all of those scam brokers.
The magnitude of this type of financial fraud is bigger than most people know. There are tens of millions of victims every single year throughout the world. Many victims that have experienced financial losses assume they have few options when it comes to recovering their funds. The ‘Funds Recovery” team is on a mission to remedy this problem.
We know how to recover your funds and we have helped thousands of scam victims worldwide to recover their funds.
No matter how complex your situation is, we have a solution for you.
I found that this same text has been used on at least 32 other websites, all of which may be scams. The full list of sites is given at the end of the article.
Fundrecoverydesk also provides the registration certificate of a company registered in 2017 in the UK. However, the certificate on the website is fake as it has been clearly edited. The company does not seem to have any real relation to Fundrecoverydesk.
The website is run completely anonymously as there is not the name of a single team member mentioned anywhere. There is no company information either, probably because no such company actually exists. Even the client testimonials on the website are glaringly fake as the text is taken from literature and the clients’ names are made up.
Fundrecoverydesk does not seem to have a social media presence. There are social media icons given on the home page, but they are fake as they lead nowhere.
The contact information given on the website includes an address and an email ID. I found that the address provided is completely fake as no such location exists. The address also does not match the one on the fake registration certificate.
The details are also supposed to include a phone number, but the text simply says ‘loading…’. This shows that Fundrecoverydesk is not run by professionals as the website has not been completed even though it has been active since March 2020.
There are a few reviews for Fundrecoverydesk available online, all of which are negative. Reviewers have stated that Fundrecoverydesk demands an advance payment for recovering fees and then repeatedly asks for more fees upon fees. Therefore, it shows the signs of being an Advance Fee Scam.
Conclusion
It seems extremely obvious that Fundrecoverydesk is a fake crypto recovery agency. The site is being operated anonymously since March 2020. However, the website falsely claims that the company is active since 2013 and 2017. The website also displays an edited UK company registration certification of an unrelated organization.
The website’s entire content has been copied and the same can be found on at least 32 other websites, all of which may be scams. Even the client testimonials are fake. Fundrecoverydesk does not have a social media presence and the contact details provided aren’t real either. Reviews state that Fundrecoverydesk is an Advance Fee Scam as they ask for advance fees and never recover the lost funds.
It is advisable to avoid hiring the services of Fundrecoverydesk or the 32 similar websites, as there is a high probability that they may be run by fraudsters.
How to Get Your Money Back from a Scam
Remember: If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
If you have been a victim of an investment scam, you can take the following steps:
- File a complaint with the payment portal. However, investment scammers mostly use methods such as Bitcoin, Western Union, MoneyGram and other untraceable methods which make refunds impossible.
- File a formal police complaint with the Cybercrime department.
- Leave a negative review on review portals such as Scamadviser and TrustPilot
- Report the website to Google using the Suspicious Site Reporter extension for Chrome
- Give a low rating to the website on Web of Trust. You can also install their extension for the same.
- If the company has a listing on Google My Business or Google Maps, file a complaint using the Business Redressal Complaint Form. Also, leave a negative review explaining what kind of experience you had.
