Why is dannerusa.com Fake?
Dannerusa.com is a website that claims to be selling Danner brand footwear at low prices. Danner-store is quite obviously a scam as danner.com is the only official online shop for Danner shoes.
There are multiple indications that Danner-store is part of a network of fake shopping sites operated by organized cybercriminals. Dannerusa’s prices are too good to be true, which is often the most obvious indication of a scam and may suggest that the website sells counterfeits.
A domain name lookup of the website shows that dannerusa.com was registered on 1st July 2023. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact details have not been provided. Therefore, it is a new website being run anonymously, likely from a high-risk country such as China.
All the content on the website is copied and I found that there are at least 13 similar active websites, all of which may be scams. The list of websites is given at the end of the article.
Dannerusa’s website contains some social media links but they are fake as they lead nowhere. However, I discovered that dannerusa.com is being promoted using multiple fake Facebook pages. These pages have been stolen from their original owners and at least two of these pages were being used for running advertisements on Facebook and Instagram.
The Contact Us page provides the email ID ‘service@megattrading.com’ which seems to belong to a random Malaysian website that clearly has no relation to Danner. Therefore, there is no real way to contact Dannerusa after making a purchase.
I could not find any customer reviews for Dannerusa on sites such as ScamAdviser, Trustpilot and others. As the site seems to be operated by organized cybercriminals, customers can expect false advertising, products being shipped from China, late or no delivery, poor customer service and refusal to provide refunds. It is quite obvious that Dannerusa and the similar sites are likely to be scams operated by Chinese cybercrime networks.
Dannerusa is a new site created anonymously in July 2023 and is pretending to be an official online outlet for Danner footwear despite having no relation to the brand. The prices are too good to be true and the site may be selling counterfeits.
There are signs that it is operated by organized cybercriminals, likely from China. The website content is copied and the same text has been found on several fake online stores. I found that there are more than a dozen active websites using the same content as Dannerusa and are likely to be operated by the same fraudsters.
There is no real way to contact Dannerusa after making a purchase as the email ID belongs to a questionable Malaysian website. No customer reviews could be found online either. It is advisable to avoid shopping on Dannerusa or any of the similar sites as they do not seem to be genuine businesses.
If you think that you have been scammed by any of these sites, you can contact PayPal or your bank for a full refund. Don’t accept a partial refund citing that the product is not what you ordered and refuse to ship the items back to China as the merchant claims to be located in the USA.
