Why Is Abdserry Fake?

Abdserry is a website that claims to be selling outdoor gear such as shirts, shoes, backpacks, and more. The 4K 10-300X40mm super telephoto zoom monocular telescope is featured prominently on the home page and it has come to my attention that Abdserry is running Facebook ads for the product.

The home page of the website shows a woman in a hat that has nothing to do with any of the products sold on the website. The website seems to use a basic template and is reminiscent of typical Chinese scam websites. It has an Alexa rank of 415,111 which shows that it is somewhat popular.

A domain name lookup of the website shows that it was registered on 25th April 2020 in Guang Dong, China. The registrant’s name and contact details have not been provided.

The products featured on the website are not unique. The same items can be found on various other websites, but the prices given on Abdserry are considerably lower. This is a common pattern with Chinese scams and makes Abdserry highly suspect.

The About Us page of the website contains the following text:

Who are we? ! A new type of internet e-commerce company, that’s our label.

This same text is being used by 99 online stores, which clearly shows that the content is not original. Abdserry seems to be part of a larger network of websites that may all be scams. The full list is given at the end of the article.

Even though several users have mentioned that they saw Facebook ads for the 4K telescope, I could not find any social media pages for Abdserry. However, there are several Facebook pages found to be part of Abdserry’s network which might be used to run the ads.

The Contact Us page of the website only provides an email ID and an address. The email ID was found to be working when tested. Curiously, the address is written as an image, probably to avoid detection by search engines. The address is of a location in London even though the domain has been registered in China. This suggests that the address may be fake. The company name has been given as Marul Company Limited, therefore I am naming this list of 99 websites as the Marul Company Limited Scam Network.

An analysis of the list shows that there are 90 websites and 9 Facebook pages that form the Marul Company Limited Scam Network. 79 out of 90 websites (87.8%) share just two IP addresses. This leaves no doubt that the websites are related to each other and form an organized network of scams. Most of the domains are registered in China and have nonsense names that are a random jumble of alphabets.

There are a few customer reviews available for Abdserry on sites such as Mecedorama, Cyberbunkers and Glyphosate Taskforce. The reviews are all negative and customers have said that they received no confirmation after placing their orders even though the payment went through. Those who ordered the 4K Telescope have complained that they received an inferior product that is not as advertised. Customer service was either unresponsive or they offered customers a measly 20% refund.

It is quite clear that Abdserry is part of the Marul Company Scam Network consisting of 99 fake websites. The content on the website, including text and images, has been copied from various legitimate online stores. The text used on the About Us page is used by at least 99 other online stores that all seem to be scams.

Abdserry claims to be located in London, but the domain has been registered in Guang Dong, China. There also seems to be an attempt to hide the company name and address from search engines, as this information is provided in image format instead of text. The email ID was found to be working, but there are several complaints that customer service is unresponsive and unhelpful. Customers have complained that they received no order conformation and were delivered inferior products that are not as advertised. Those who requested a refund were refused or offered a refund of just 20%.

It is advisable to avoid shopping on Abdserry, as it seems to be part of a network of Chinese scam websites. The next time you’re shopping online, check the About Us and Contact Us pages of the website. If you see the text “Who are we? ! A new type of internet e-commerce company, that’s our label. ” or the company name Marul Company Limited, then you can be sure that it is a scam.
